Supporting the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service Family
Scottish Fire and Rescue Service Family Support Trust (established 1923), is the oldest Fire & Rescue charity in the UK. We enjoy a unique position as the only Fire Service charity, run within a specific Fire and Rescue Service, for the benefit of Service personnel and retired members and their families.
Over the years, our Charity has successfully aligned itself to the changing face of the Fire & Rescue Services. Formerly known as Strathclyde Widows and Orphans Fund, we changed our name to SFRS Family Support Trust and adopted SCIO status, following the reform of Scotland’s Fire and Rescue Services in April 2013.
We strive to ensure best use of charitable resources: between 80% and 100% of our annual regular giving income received from Service employees, is paid out in grants, to assist those in greatest need.
Our Vision
“Our vision for the Scottish Fire & Rescue Service Family Support Trust (SCIO) is to sustain and continue to develop our unique Fire Service Charity to enable support to all Scottish Fire and Rescue Service colleagues and their families when they need it most"
David Murdoch
FST Chairperson

“Many, many thanks for our wonderful summer outing. The firefighters, on and off duty, couldn’t do enough for us. We all had a brilliant day, well done and thanks again.”
